Cathy L. Bruno, a native and life-long resident of Hollister,
died monday June 21, 2004 at Mabie Northside Convalescent Hospital
at the age of 47.
Cathy L. Bruno, a native and life-long resident of Hollister, died monday June 21, 2004 at Mabie Northside Convalescent Hospital at the age of 47.
Cathy received her education in San Benito County having graduated from San Benito High School. Her professional life included working as a purchasing agent for Teledyne McCormick Selph for l7 years before transferring to Dole Fresh Vegetables in Soledad in 1992 to be a manufacturing supervisor until the time of her death.
“Spending time with family always came first with Cathy,” said her family. “She was always a kind person willing to help others,” said her mother. Among the activities she enjoyed with her family were shopping, traveling on trips to Reno and San Francisco and a cruise to the Carribean with her mother. Cathy was a member of Sacred Heart Church, an avid sports fan who enjoyed 49ers football, baseball and horse racing.
Survivors are her mother Elinor R. Bruno, of Hollister; sisters Patricia “Pat” Fortino, of Gilroy and Janice Gourd of Nevada; her brother Paul Bruno of Hollister; brother-in-law Jim Fortino of Gilroy; niece and goddaughter Amanda “Mandy” Fortino, of Gilroy; and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews living in Hollister, Gilroy, and Georgia. Friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration of her life on Friday June 25 at 11:30 a.m. at the chapel of the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister. Private cremation has been held through Grunnagle Ament Nelson Crematory with private inurnment at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Donations are preferred to the Comprehensive Cancer Center @ Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital C/O the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home.
