Charles A. Notar died in Hollister on Thursday, Nov. 6. He was 81.

The native of CleElum, Wash., Notar lived in Mojave from 1953 to 2001 when he and his wife, Betty, moved to Hollister. They were married in Mansfield, La. in 1945.

Notar was a graduate of Seattle University with a bachelor’s degree in engineering and worked in the Aerospace industry for many years.

He served in the military during World War II and the Korean War.

He attended the United Methodist Church in Lancaster and in Hollister. He was also an avid snow skier, who taught his family to ski. Notar competed in downhill events and won several awards.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Notar of Hollister; daughters and their spouses, Cathie and Ron Greenberg of Three Rivers, Mich.; Bonnie and Cliff Weedman of Escondido; Toni Notar and Stephen Kain of Hollister.

He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

There will be two memorial services: Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 3:30 p.m. at the Hollister Methodist Church in Hollister at the corner of Monterey and Fifth streets. The second memorial service will be on Friday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. in the Lancaster United Methodist Church in Lancaster.

Inurnment will be at the Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster.

Donations are preferred to Solutions of the United Methodist Church care of Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home at 367 Seventh St. in Hollister.

Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory.
