Soldotna, Alaska resident Charles E. O’Dell, formerly of Gilroy, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. He was 60.

At his request, no services are planned. His ashes will be scattered by the family at a later date.

Mr. O’Dell was born Dec. 27, 1946 in Newkirk, OK. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He was discharged in 1966.

He worked in commercial building construction in California before retiring to spend time with his grandsons and to fish in Alaska.

“After spending time on the internet, he would always sign off with ‘tyco,’ which was like his calling card. It stood for thank you, Chuck O’Dell.” his family said.

Mr. O’Dell was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Clara O’Dell. His is survived by his wife of 40 year, Glenis O’Dell of Soldotna, daughters; Keira Adams and her husband, Jeff, of San Martin, CA, and Brenda O’Dell of San Francisco, CA, son, Phillip O’Dell and his wife, Lucy, of Fairbanks; grandsons; Deacon and Dane Adams, both of San Martin, CA, and Nickolas O’Dell of Fairbanks; his brothers, John O’Dell and his wife, Wynona of TX, and Bill O’Dell of OK, sister; Suzie Harder and her husband, Tom of Oklahoma, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
