Chester passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Gilroy after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Gilroy and owned and operated Remo’s Egg Ranch along with his wife of 53 years and 4 children.He is preceded in death by parents Remo and Amelia Tortia He is survived by his wife Lillian, daughter Debbie Urdiales, son-in-law Lupe Urdiales, daughter Karen M Puiia, son Johnny Tortia and daughter-in-law Cookie and son Vince Tortia, sister, Melva Sharaf, nephews, David and Danny Sharaf. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Jimenez, Eva Urdiales, Sara and Stephanie Puiia, 3 great-grandchildren, Mariah, Anthony and Jonathan Jimenez.He enjoyed watching Giants baseball at home with his sons, tending to his vegetable and fruit garden and reading. Visitation will be held on Monday January 26, 2009 at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday January 27, 2009 at Habing Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and Odyssey Hospice.
