The California Highway Patrol has released identities of a man and woman who have survived Thursday’s accident on Highway 152, but declined to reveal the name of an 18-year-old Turlock man who died.

The female driver of the 2006 Dodge Charger that slammed through a big-rig’s trailer was Gurvinder Chamal, 19, of Ceres, while the other passenger was Jasbir Singh, 18, of Hughson, said Matt Peters with the Hollister-Gilroy office of the CHP. Both remained in critical condition at Regional Medical Center of San Jose as of this morning, he said.

Peters said he could not release the name of the fatal victim, an 18-year-old Turlock man, because he could not confirm whether next of kin had been notified.

The car Thursday morning drove through the trailer of the big-rig, which had been attempting a U-turn, just north of the Highways 152-156 interchange. Peters said the CHP had not cited or arrested the Costco Wholesale truck’s 57-year-old driver, David Jones of Hayward, but that the investigation is continuing.
