Passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at his home in Gilroy.
Loving husband of 72 years to Erma Joyce Sosa (Diaz) of Gilroy. Loving father of Anthony Sosa (Nancy) of Texas, Kenneth Sosa (Doris), and Russell Sosa of Gilroy. Dear grandfather of Jeff, Stephanie, Chris and Stephen Sosa. Adoring great-grandfather of Matthew, Michelle, Michael and Mark Sosa. Preceded in death by his wife Erma, parents Francisco and Antonia, brothers Alonzo, Frank, Don, and sisters Catherine Pappani, Manuella Hansbro, and Betty Pappani.
Chris was a loving brother-in-law to the Diaz family including Sylvia Guajardo, Geri Guerriero, Arlene Lujan, Henry Diaz, Edwin Diaz, Bobby Diaz, Alfred Diaz and the late Irene Perez, Ella Peralta, Eloise “Cookie” Molina, Benny and Leonard Diaz. He is survived by many nieces & nephews.
Born a twin with his sister Manuella in Jackson, CA, raised in Hollister, moved to Gilroy as a young man where he met the love of his life Erma Diaz.
He worked for over 40 years at Filice & Perelli Cannery (Cal-Can), where he was Master of the shipping docks. Chris was a big fan of motorcycle flat track racing, clamming at Pismo beach, the S.F. 49ers and family gatherings.
He was a Member of Saint Mary’s Church.
Visitation begins 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2011, followed by a Vigil at 7:00 P.M. both at Habing Funeral Home in Gilroy. Mass Thursday, July 7, 2011, 10:00 A.M. at Saint Mary Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the American Heart Association.
