Christopher Dean Mares died Saturday, Dec. 6 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was 40.

He worked in construction. He was born in Los Angeles and lived in Hollister before moving to Eatontown, N.J. in 1988.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Geraldine Roy Pride and Sheldon Pride of Eatontown; brothers Tome Mares of Kona, Hawaii, Mark Mares of Union, Alan Mares of Eatontown, Shannon Pride of Hollister and Keith Pride of Lancaster; sisters Sherry Smith Kennedy of Maui, Hawaii, Jill Mares-Mosele of Vicenza, Italy and Joy Ruiz of Hollister; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of remembrance will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the family home, 39 Park Ave., Eatontown.

Because of his love for his animals, donations may be sent to the SPCA, 260 Wall St., Eatontown, N.J., 07724.

Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown, is in charge of arrangements.
