My name is Rick, and I was born and raised in Hollister. I am an Ohlone descendent. Right now I am attending Hartnell College in Salinas.
A few students and I started a club at school, which we named Honoring Indigenous Intertribal Peoples ( H.I.I.P.). It is for all people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.
We are here to bring awareness to all people of the cultural diversity around us. Our goal is to honor everyone no matter who they are or where they come from and to also honor Mother Earth.
We will be having a pow wow at Hartnell on April 30. It will be held on campus from noon to 8pm. Admission is free.
There will be drummers, dancers, vendors, food and games. Our alcohol- and drug-free environment will be fun for the whole family, so stop by and say hello. I hope to see you there.
