Dear Editor:
I have been a little bemused and somewhat disgusted by all the highway plans discussed in your paper recently.
I’d like to propose another which I call the “Country Club Bypass.”
The plans for the Hollister bypass were quite satisfactory when they were originally conceived in 1959. With the growth of the city they have become a hodgepodge of a thruway with the proposed road adding to the heavy traffic on Highway 25 south of Sunnyslope Road.
The Country Club Bypass is designed for residents of Ridgemark, the Anderson Tract backed against Fairview Road and those living or traveling further south. It would involve a dangerous left turn off of southbound Highway 25 into Wright (McClosky) Road following this road to Fairview.
Going south on Fairview leads one to Highway 25 at the entrance to Ridgemark Country Club, a total of 5.7 miles involving one traffic signal.
The present Highway 25 through Hollister is 4.8 miles and goes through eight traffic signals.
