San Benito County’s unemployment rate was down significantly in February compared with the same period a year ago.
The jobless figure here was 8.9 percent in February, according to the California Employment Development Department figures released Thursday. That was down from 12.8 percent in February 2014, according to the EDD.
January 2015 county numbers weren’t available for comparison.
In February, an estimate of 2,600 county residents filed for unemployment in a workforce of 29,800. Statewide, the jobless rate decreased from 7 percent in January to 6.7 percent in February.
