Residing in Gilroy has not allowed me to follow all the charges
and events going on concerning District Attorney John Sarsfield as
much I would have liked. It appears, from what I have seen and
heard, that John is under attack by some political groups and
supporters over his actions as DA. The attacks seem to be not only
directed at his professional conduct, but also against him
personally.
Dear Editor,
Residing in Gilroy has not allowed me to follow all the charges and events going on concerning District Attorney John Sarsfield as much I would have liked. It appears, from what I have seen and heard, that John is under attack by some political groups and supporters over his actions as DA. The attacks seem to be not only directed at his professional conduct, but also against him personally.
I have not spoken with John since my association with him during the middle 1990s, but I always found him to be a person who was not only the consummate professional but also someone who was very ethical in his conduct. I saw someone who was very concerned with crime in the community and strived to do whatever he could to make the community a safer and better place to live.
It is possible for people to change, but I would be “shocked” if John was anything but the way I knew him a few years go.
The killing of his dogs as a way to attack someone was certainly a low point, and one can only hope that the person or people responsible are caught. I hope that when everything is finally over that John will be vindicated, but also realize that even with vindication the return to normal will be difficult.
