San Benito is an attractive place to live because of its rural
country atmosphere.
Dear Editor,
San Benito is an attractive place to live because of its rural country atmosphere.
Putting a gambling establishment in San Benito County with the resulting bright lights, noise, and traffic makes no contribution.
The developers would have us believe that this is an Indian project.
Are we naive enough to believe that this is anything other than a sham? This project has everything to do with big business investors and big money posing behind a few Indians who don’t even live in San Benito County.
Gaming is a nice way of saying gambling.
Gambling does absolutely nothing to influence family life in a positive way. Gambling often leads to addiction with the resulting break up of family, violence, crime and higher welfare costs.
These greedy developers are only interested in making money while we will be left with increased costs.
The traffic on Highway 25 is too heavy now, and this area has been under water in the past. Does it make sense to build in such an area?
In the winter we see well heads open and artesian water flowing out because of the high water table the area. Where will the sewer water go?
Let’s look at the human and environmental damage that lies ahead.
If some other county gets these so called “benefits” of this gambling establishment then so be it. At least the supervisors of this county can sleep at night knowing that they have protected those who elected them from this invasion.
