Hollister resident David A. Powell died Saturday, Sept. 13, at Northside Conv. Hospital in Salinas. He was 55.

Powell was involved with the San Benito County Historical Society. He was a gun and antiques collector, an avid reader and historian. He loved the outdoors, especially the coast.

He spent 26 years in the private law enforcement and security fields before retiring in January as the manager of Security for Ridgemark Golf & Country Club.

He is survived by his sister Martha Tidwell, brother-in-law Theodore G. (Ted) Tidwell, niece Kathleen Parrish, grand-niece Jessica Parrish and grand-nephew Zachary Parrish, all of Hollister.

Arrangements were made for cremation at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Crematory. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Salinas.

Donations may be sent to the San Benito County Historical Society in care of the mortuary chapel.
