David Andrew Weingartner passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy, CA. David was born and raised in Binghamton, NY where he graduated from Binghamton Central High School. After earning his Associate’s Degree from Broome Technical Community College he worked for the Ansco Company before joining IBM in Endicott, NY. In 1966, he moved to San Jose, CA where he worked as a Project Manager for IBM until his retirement in 1991 after 35 years of service.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sharon Weingartner, and his brothers Charles and Benjamin Weingartner and sister-in-law Carol Weingartner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Martha Weingartner, his brother Marvin and sister Nancy. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Bill Smith and his wife Rose plus many beloved nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family of very special friends.
Dave was a member of the Gilroy Elks and a 50 year member of the Daylight Masonic Lodge, Endicott, NY. He will be best remembered for his zest for life and enjoyment of the outdoors. For years, Dave loved to spend his winters skiing and summers golfing and fishing. But, above all else, Dave and Sharon were passionate about taking advantage of all the enjoyments that Tahoe has to offer.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at St. John the Devine Episcopal Church 17740 Peak Ave. in Morgan Hill, CA. Interment will follow at a later date at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, Gilroy, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
