David Carlos Vilchis was born and raised in Gilroy. He graduated from Gilroy High School. He married his wife Pam in 1980. David played softball for Gilroy leagues for many years.
He enjoyed watching sports on T.V. and spending time with his family, especially giving his grandson a ride on his wheel chair and taking him to the park.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Pam, his son David Vilchis, daughter, Kimberly Vilchis and fiance Marcus Pena, daughter Tabitha Vilchis, daughter Desirea Vilchis and fiance Mitchell Reese and daughter Felicia Vilchis, grandchildren; Jasmine and Jade Vilchis and Mason and Leilani Pena, all of Gilroy, brother-in-law Oscar Ruiz, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy and Val Casillas, mother Angelina Salazar and brother Ed Vilchis and sister-in-law Shelly, of San Jose, CA. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Oscar and Rita Ruiz and grandparents, Magdaleno and Nieves Lopez.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 9:15 A.M. on November 14, 2007, at Saint Marys Church in Gilroy.
