Dawn Carol Perry lost her 21-month battle with lung cancer on December 12, 2007. She was born in Port Huron, Michigan, on August 3, 1944, to Richard and Avonne Zander. She came to California in 1968 with her family. Her family was her life. She took pride in decorating her home for the Christmas Holiday Season, as it is her favorite time of the year. She enjoyed making crafts and giving them as gifts to those she loved throughout the year. She loved Carnation flowers and Starbucks Caramel Macchiato. Neil Diamond was her favorite singer. She loved a good card game of Canasta with her friends and enjoyed playing the slots. She was a wife, mother and homemaker for many years. Orchard Supply Hardware became a part of her extended family when in 1981 she went to work for them. She had just celebrated her 25th Anniversary with OSH.
Mrs. Perry is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Ed Perry who passed in 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Marie Anderson, of Gilroy, stepson and daughter in law, Tim and Cindy La Vere of Port Huron, Michigan, Grandchildren Kaytlin and Reese Anderson of Gilroy. Brothers and Sister in laws, Leon and Diane Zander of Croswell Michigan, Richard & Bonnie Zander, Donald & Judy Zander of Gilroy and Michael and Louanne Zander of Wisconsin. Her nieces and nephews, Cindy & Steve Thompson of Michigan, David & Jennifer Zander of Hollister, Brett Zander, and Michael & Christina Voorhees of Gilroy and Clint and Nikki Smith of Los Gatos and many great nieces and nephews. Her goddaughter Lisa Cantu, special friend Gayle Steffensen, her Companion Bill Moses and her canine friend “Freckles”.
Services will be held at Gilroy Presbyterian Church 6000 Miller Ave on Monday, December 17 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Gilroy Relay for Life 2008 c/o ACS 747 Camden Ave Suite B Campbell, CA 95008.
