My name is Peter Miranda, and I have been a resident of San Benito County for over 26 years. I recently read the article regarding District 5 Supervisor elections, and I was disturbed by the comments published. I have been a supporter of Jaime De La Cruz throughout the elections. Mr. De La Cruz is a hard-working individual that truly cares for the community and wants to see changes which will benefit the entire community. Jaime De La Cruz has won the election over the incumbent Bob Cruz, who served as the District 5 Supervisor for eight years. But yet it appears that Mickie Luna, a volunteer for Bob Cruz’s campaign, is trying to use her influence to taint Mr. De La Cruz’s victory. She once stated to the Pinnacle that “If somebody assisted somebody to vote a certain way,” then both parties, Mr. De La Cruz and Mr. Bob Cruz, are guilty of this act. She also stated that Mr. Bob Cruz was “cheated out of vote(s).” How could this occur if the ballots are sealed and signed by the voters themselves, not by Mr. Jaime De La Cruz? Is Mickie Luna trying to divide the community or is she trying to settle a personal vendetta against Jaime?

It is time for this ridiculous controversy to end and to move forward. The community voted for Jaime De La Cruz and this should be granted.

Thank you.
