Salinas – San Benito product Yvette De La Rosa qualified for the NorCal Championship trials by taking first place in the steeple chase Saturday at the Ed Adams Invitational at Hartnell College.
De La Rosa won with a time of 14:40.3 in her first ever steeple chase competition. Her efforts helped Hartnell take first place in the women’s team competition.
The NorCal Championship trials will take place May 4 at Merritt College in Oakland. The NorCal finals will follow May 12 at American River College in Sacramento, followed by the California State Championships May 18 and 19 at College of San Mateo.
