Among a string of arrests last weekend by the sheriff’s office, deputies and a K-9 arrested two men suspected of stealing a spool of copper wire from a Pacific Gas & Electric site in Hollister.
At about 3 a.m. on Christmas morning, a sheriff’s deputy and the K-9 responded to a report of a commercial burglary in progress at the 1980 Santa Ana Road facility, according to the sheriff’s office. When they arrived they saw a suspect, 47-year-old Eric Flanagan of Pacifica, leaving the business.
He initially refused to stop, and deputies deployed the dog to apprehend him. Deputies also found another suspect, 47-year-old Denny Holderfield of Gilroy, hiding near the business. They arrested both men and took them to the San Benito County Jail with recommended charges alleging commercial burglary.
In all over the Christmas weekend, the sheriff’s office made seven arrests for varying, suspected crimes that included drug and firearm-possession charges.
