Destry Antonio Cavanas died on Dec. 20 in Oakdale after a short
battle with illness. He was 46.
Destry Antonio Cavanas died on Dec. 20 in Oakdale after a short battle with illness. He was 46.

He lived in Hollister where he attended Sacred Heart, San Juan Elementary and San Benito High School. After school, he joined the Marine Corp. as an anti-tank assaultman at Camp Pendleton and was stationed in Charleston, S.C as a military policeman. Following his military career, he moved to Hayward where he worked as a self-employed electrician. Destry enjoyed tinkering with things to see how they worked and helping others.

He is survived by his two sons Shane Cavanas of Kentucky and Kalo Cavanas of Texas; his parents Tony and Ellen Cavanas of Oakland; siblings Charmain Beaston and Darren Cavanas, both of Hollister, and Dwayne Cavanas of Los Angeles; nephew Calvin Allen; nieces Desiree Guevara, Davielle Costales, and Danielle and Ashley Cavanas; and five aunts and four uncles.
