This is the first of two similar duplexes going up downtown next to the PG&E yard.

If anyone has noticed the new two-story building going up next to the Pacific Gas & Electric yard downtown, it actually has nothing to do with the utility.
The construction at the two-story building there is the first of two duplexes approved for the site near East and Seventh streets, said Hollister planning official Jill Morales.
Although the buildings look different than others in the area, Morales said that location has mixed-use zoning appropriate for commercial or residential uses.
“It’s more of a townhouse layout,” Morales said.
Those duplexes, from developer Del Curto Brothers Construction, will each include units featuring bottom and top floors, she said.
The total square footage for both duplex projects is 2,192. Morales said that houses once existed at the same location, but those have been demolished.
