Lifelong Gilroy resident
Lifelong Gilroy resident Dolores Garcia Jordan died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at her home. She was 73.

Mrs. Jordan was the daughter of John and Rose Garcia, a pioneer Gilroy family. Her father was born in Gilroy in 1903. She attended schools in Gilroy, San Martin and Morgan Hill and graduated from Gilroy High School in 1948. She sang in the South Valley Choir for many years, having acquired her musical ability from her mother, who played piano and sang. Mrs. Jordan also played the piano, the ukelele and the washtub. She was an avid gardener and was known as a wonderful cook, and took great pride in her home.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Merle Jordan of Morgan Hill; her brother, John D. Garcia of Gilroy; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary Church in Gilroy. Arrangements are under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to any Hospice program.
