Former San Juan Bautista resident Dolores Russell passed away in Bloomfield, Co last Friday, December 18, 2009. Dolores, daughter of Perry and Mae Guthrie was born on the family farm in Dunlap, KS. As a young girl she moved with her parents and three sisters to

Trinidad, CO where her parents had a tourist motor court. She met her husband Tom Russell in CO and moved to Salinas, CA to marry him while he was stationed at Fort Ord during WWll. Following his discharge at the end of the war, they started a home in Salinas but moved to San Juan Bautista in the 50’s establishing a home in the Anzar Hills. Dolores worked at the Paradise Bakery in San Juan for many years. She was a member of the Rebeka’s Lodge, The San Juan Grange and the Glad Tidings Church. She was proceeded in death by husband Tom Russell, parents Perry and Mae Guthrie and sister Erma Weymeyer. Dolores is survived by her daughters Shirley Russell of Chandler, AZ; Barbara (Frank) Rubio of Hollister. Margaret (Ray) Colebaugh of San Juan Bautista and Ruth Russell of Broomfield, CO. Grandaughters Heather Rubio of Hollister and Amber (Dustin) Scribner of Hollister. Sisters Margaret Topping of Parker, CO and Mildred Patterson of Emporia, KS. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren. Burial services at the San Juan Bautista Cemetery have been held.
