Domenica “Minnie” Borg, 90, passed peacefully into the hands of God on November 8, 2006.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2006, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the White Oaks Chapel, 1696 El Camino Real, San Carlos. A vigil service will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 pm that evening, as well. The funeral mass for Mrs. Borg will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, November 20, 2006, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 880 Tamarack Avenue in San Carlos. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
Memorials have been established to UNICEF and the Dar Tal Providenca Orphanage in Malta.
Born in Mosta, Malta, Minnie married “Carmelo” Charles Borg on May 4, 1939, and moved to the United States. She settled in San Francisco with her husband’s family and later moved to Gilroy and San Carlos, where she was a parishioner of St. Charles Catholic Church. Minnie was known for her culinary expertise and enjoyed working as a private cook for estate homes in Malta and California. She also cooked for Many Oaks Retirement Home, Sequoia Hospital, and was a member of a catering service with her friends. She loved her family, her church, music and parties. She loved to sing, she loved to make people laugh, and she loved to entertain her family and friends. Mrs. Borg is survived by her two sons, Charles and Richard, and Richard’s wife; seven grandchildren; and three great-grand children. She is also survived by five siblings and numerous other family members, residing in Malta, Australia and the United States. Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Borg was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law and seven siblings.
