Domingo “Americano” Garza Cardona died Saturday, July 5, in Gilroy.
Cardona retired from Gilroy Foods after 30 years of employment.
He is survived by his wife Velia Padilla Cardona of Gilroy; his children Stella P. Gaucin of Hollister and Dolores P. Garcia and husband Benny of Hollister, Arthur Vargas Jr. and wife Mary of Sacramento, Frank P. Vargas of Gilroy, Erlinda Vargas of Sacramento, Daniel P. Vargas and wife Chris of Sacramento, Jennie Velasquez of Sacramento. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. He will be also missed by Shorty.
The vigil service will be today at 6:30 p.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy. The funeral service will begin at the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. with Mass following at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park in Gilroy.
