Doris M. Knapp-Baldeon, 74 passed away on April 1, 2014, in her home in Gilroy, CA. She was born to Ben and Elsie Knapp of Goodfield, Ill.
Doris married German Baldeon in 1977. Doris is survived by her husband German Baldeon, her son, Michael German Baldeon, her sister, Marjorie Knapp (Don Bauman), her brother Ralph (Linda) Knapp, two aunts, and many nephews and nieces.
Doris was a graduate of Northwest University School Of Medical Technology in Chicago and received her Master’s degree in Health and Science Education from Baylor University in Houston Texas. She was part of research team at Colombia University that later won a Nobel Prize for their research on insulin.
Doris was recognized in Who’s Who of American Women. One of her greatest joys was being a member of the Project Hope team both on board the Ship Hope in Recife, Brazil and on land base became fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish.
Doris, German and Michael moved to Gilroy in 1986 where German opened his private medical practice and Doris played the important role of Office Manager.
Doris and German compassionately served the community for twenty-five years while they had the practice. Doris taught in the Department of Nursing at Gavilan Community College where she continued to mentor and assist many students.
Doris will always be remembered for her extraordinary kindness and compassion shown to others, no matter what the circumstances. Along her life’s journey she was a passionate supporter and volunteer of NAMI (National Association of Mental Illness).
