Dorothy Ann Niemeyer lost her battle with colon cancer at her home Sunday, Nov. 9. She was 55.
She was born in Oroville, Calif., on Feb. 18, 1948. A resident of Hollister since 1977, she attended Gavilan College where she worked in cosmetology. She also worked at Hope Rehabilitation Center and Cable Car Sunglasswear.
She was an avid doll collector and movie trivia buff who loved to travel.
She was a Special Olympics torchbearer for Hollister in May, 1984.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Peter Niemeyer.
She is survived by her mother Ardyne Hull and step-father Emory Hull of Carson City, Nev.; father Walter Niemeyer of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother Dr. Walt Niemeyer of Minden, Nev.; sister Ardyne Lathrop and brother-in-law Douglas Lathrop of Ontario, Calif.; sister Adrien Absher and brother-in-law Jerry Absher of Hollister; sister-in-law Mardell Niemeyer of Princeton, Calif.; and two loving aunts, Mary Palmer of Irvine, Calif., and Peggy Bolt of Sacramento.
Dorothy was the loving aunt of Jerry Absher Jr., Jennifer Absher, Douglas Lathrop, Stephanie Malcolm, Steven Lathrop, Eric Niemeyer, Evan Niemeyer, Kimberly Gorring and Kevin Niemeyer. She was also the great-aunt of 22 nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Guthrie will officiate. Friends and family are invited to attend. A reception will follow the services at the home of Adrien and Jerry Absher.
Donations may be made to the Peter Niemeyer Scholarship Fund in care of Adrien Absher.
Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory.
