Douglas R. “Doug” Rudd, 70, passed away in Yerington, NV. He was born in Blain County, OK and grew up in San Juan Bautista, CA.

He attended San Juan Grammar School and San Benito High School.

Doug worked for Ideal Cement Co. in San Juan Bautista, Kaiser Refractories, National Refractories and Chem-Lime in Salinas, CA until his retirement. Then he moved to Yerington, NV where he felt more at home than anywhere else he said.

Doug loved flying model planes and was a master falconer and loved flying his birds of prey for years. He loved rock hounding and finding gold nuggets. He also loved fishing with his daughter, Brenda and grandchildren in Wilson Cyn, NV among other places. He loved watching sports and spending time with his wife, Shirley and four dogs, Bear, Scarlett, Taz and Missy. He also loved visiting Virginia City, NV and going out to dinner.

Doug is preceded in death by his father, Henry Carl Rudd, mother, Lucy Jewel Rudd of San Juan Bautista, sister Gladys Worley of Twin Falls, ID, brothers, Aubrey Rudd of Hollister, CA, Gordon Rudd of Amarillo, TX and Billy Carl Rudd of Salinas, CA.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Rudd of Yerington, NV, his daughter, Brenda (Kenneth) Collins, granddaughter, Katie Collins and grandsons, Kenneth Ryan and Christopher Collins of Tracy, CA and his brother, H. Claude and Rae Ann Rudd of Manteca, CA as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Pastor John Amelio of Glad Tidings Church will officiate.
