A Hollister woman was accused of a hit-and-run while using her cell phone Sunday on Highway 156, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Araceli Luna, 37, was arrested after the incident on Highway 156 at the Union Road intersection. The CHP reported that Luna was driving a 1992 Lexus and struck a sport utility vehicle halted at the intersection. The CHP’s report noted that Luna, with a passenger in the vehicle, was using her cell phone when her car struck the rear of the SUV.
Authorities alleged she also got out of the car and attempted to flee. Officers found her with the use of a thermal imaging device supplied by the Hollister Fire Department and booked her into the San Benito County Jail.
