E. C. “Gino” Fortino passed away October 6th, 2010, at the age of 68 after a courageous battle against cancer.
Gino was a lifelong resident of Hollister who received his education at Sacred Heart School, Palma High School, Hartnell Jr. College, and Fresno State College. Gino made a career in the Insurance Profession for 40 years, merging his office 18 years ago with DiBuduo & Defendis of Fresno.
Gino was proud of, and devoted to his family, meticulous with his possessions, and particular with his surroundings. He enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, gardening – “when he went outside his grass blades stood at attention,” said his brother Philip; taking care of his cars and his boat, the out-of-doors fishing, playing golf, and traveling .
His memberships included the Hollister Rotary Club, the Gourmet Club, Italian Catholic Federation, Hollister Elks Lodge, and Ridgemark Golf & Country Club. Gino was predeceased by his parents Chester and Angeline Fortino. He is survived by his devoted wife Phyllis Fortino, son and daughter –in-law Dominic and Dawn Fortino; daughter and son-in-law Gianna and Rick Veon; grandchildren Gabrielle and John Fortino and Gino Veon; brother and sister-in-law Philip and Vicki Fortino and sister Toni Lee Fortino; cousins Geri Wilson, husband Bill; Ginger Guerra, husband Joe; Teresa Sherpinski, husband Ken, and the late Eugenia Flores, husband Frances; and numerous other family members.
Friends are invited to a Mass of The Resurrection and a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 9th, 2010, beginning at 5:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 5th and College Streets, Hollister.
As per Gino’s wishes private inurnment will be held.
Memorials are preferred to RELAY FOR LIFE or to GENIE FLORES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND in care of Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister.
