the age of 71.
Earl Kenneth PerrienEarl Kenneth Perrien, longtime resident of Hollister passed away at his residence on Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 at the age of 71.

Mr. Perrien was a native of Council Bluffs, Iowa who had moved to San Benito County in 1944. Before his retirement, Earl had spent over 35 years as an employee of PG&E. A member of the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, and the Mule Deer Foundation, Earl was truly a outdoorsman said his family. He enjoyed hunting elk, mule deer and prong-horned antelope which took him to either Idaho or Colorado for 22 consecutive years. He also enjoyed fishing for trout at Shasta, Millertown, the PG&E Camps as well as at Eagle Lake, Susanville and Janestown areas with his buddies Cecil, Anthony and Joe Vallejo. Spending time with his family also was important to him, especially with his grandchildren. He loved all major sports, looking at old movies – John Wayne westerns being his favortites – and fine dining. As a hobby during his retirement, he constructed large decorative metal windmills which people bought for their yards.

Earl and his late wife Carmen Blazquez Perrien had been married for 41 years before she passed away in February 1997.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Donald Perrien, and his spouse, Danette, of Hollister, Manuel E. Perrien and his spouse, Renie, of Prunedale and Mary Perrien and her spouse, Jim Naccarato, of Exeter; grandchildren Stephanie, Jenny, Stacey, and Jackie Perrien of Hollister; Logan Perrien Naccarato, Carmelita Perrien Naccarato, and Manuel Perrien Naccarato all of Exeter; his brother Charles Perrien and wife, Jean, of Turlock; sisters Birdie Hart of Crescent City and Kaye Allen and husband, Jim, of Arkansas; sister-in-law Lucille Perrien of Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14 from noon to 7pm. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday, Sept 15 at 9am at the chapel of the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister. Interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery.

Donations are preferred to the Heart Association, Diabetes Association or San Benito Hospice c/o the mortuary chapel.
