San Juan Bautista-based Earthbound Farm is nearly done adding 120,000 square feet of warehouse space, one of several improvements planned for the next few years, according to a company spokesperson.
“This is the first of a number of phases of a gradual expansion that’s planned over the next five years,” said Samantha Cabaluna, the managing director of brand communications for the organic producer known for its packaged produce.
The warehouse, visible from San Juan Highway, has an expected completion date in April, Cabaluna said. Phase two would include office space and employee facilities across the street, which is a project that hasn’t broken ground yet, she explained.
The additional warehouse space will improve operational logistics, Cabaluna said.
“Expanding that footprint is going to improve significantly the logistics inside the warehouse and make loading trucks a lot less complicated for us,” she said.
Earthbound Farm is a subsidiary of Denver-based WhiteWave Foods, a public company with a market cap of $6.68 billion, according to Google Finance.
