The Gavilan College football team was represented by 18 of its
players on the the 2003 All Coast Conference Team.
There were 12 players who received awards and six additional
players who received honorable mention.
John Lango earned Coach of Year honors for 2003 for guiding his
team into the postseason, and running back El Ray Henry earned
offensive player of year.

Clay Peer and Caleb Doty, a pair of freshmen offensive linemen from San Benito High were named to the team. Joining them was teammate Louis Jones.
Quarterback Patrick Ames and receiver Tedaryl Mason were also selected from the Gavilan offense.
Roy Sims, a Hollister alum, Josh Visperas and Albert Garcia received defensive line honors. Live Oak’s Brian Hernandez and Janall Arthur represented the linebackers. And Gilroy High’s James Richmond and Tyrone Moore were selected from the Gavilan defensive backs.
Gavilan’s honorable mentions were Matt Engwall and Kenny Vaccarezza of San Benito and Willie Gamboa and Tony Beal from Gilroy High. Eddie Sumpter also received honorable mention.
Tickets are available through the Gavilan office for the 2003 Capital Shrine Bowl on Nov. 29.
All tickets sold on campus prior to the game will help offset the expense of the trip. Each ticket is $10, with $5 of the each ticket sale going back to the Athletics Department. Tickets will be on sale until Tuesday, Nov. 25 at noon.
