Elma Renshaw, age 90, of Hollister, CA, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2011, with her son, Howard Jr. at her side. She lived the last year and a half of her life in Pleasant Hill, CA to be close to her family.
She was born in Fresno, CA. Elma traveled around the world with her husband and enjoyed going to their condo at Napili Point, Maui. She was one of the presidents of the American Field Service Student Exchange Program in San Benito County in the 1960s and had “sons” from Germany, Denmark and Italy. She enjoyed bridge, golf and attending the San Francisco Symphony and Opera.
She was preceded in death by her son, William, and her husband, Howard Sr. She is survived by her son Howard Jr. (wife Sharon); daughter-in-law Lee McQuillen (husband Harry); niece Judy Shapiro (husband David). Grandchildren- Howard III, Kathryn, Jeffrey (wife Brit), Michelle Peters (husband Mike), Shannon Pence (husband Gil). Great-grandchildren- Cooper and Riley Renshaw, Bridgette Trusler, Bailey and Vaughn Peters. Also survived by her loving sister, Eleanor Cowan, caring nieces and nephews, and a lot of wonderful friends.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Elma’s life on Saturday, January 22, 2011, from noon to 6:00 P.M. at the home of her son, Howard Jr. in Martinez. Fr. Richard Mapplebeckpalmer will offer words of comfort to all present at 2:00 P.M.
