Former Hollister resident Eloy S. Cordova Sr. died Monday, July 21, at Mercy Dominican Hospital in Merced. He was 72.

Cordova was originally from San Jose, N.M., and lived in Hollister before moving to Gustine 10 years ago. He was a retired truck driver and member of the Teamster’s Union.

He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Cordova of Gustine; his children, Eloy Cordova Jr. and wife Cynthia of Gilroy, Manuel Cordova of Hollister, Jimmy Cordova of Sunnyvale, Albert Cordova of San Jose, Eddie Cordova of Gustine, Linda Mendoza of Hollister, Diana Cordova of Hollister, Juanita Geronimo of Hollister and Michael Cordova of Los Banos; and his brother and sister, Sam Cordova and Claudia Schustoff, both of San Francisco. Cordova is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends can pay their respects on Thursday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. A procession will leave the funeral home for an 11 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church.

Cremation will follow the Mass at Gavilan Hills Crematory. A reception will follow the Mass at 431 Tina Drive in Hollister. A private family inurnment will take place after cremation.
