Elisie May Polk died on her 89th birthday, July 4, 2008. She was born July 4, 1919 in Turney, Missouri, the fourth child of Henry and Mabel Potter.

In June of 1940 she traveled by bus from Springdale, AR to Hollister, CA to be married to Charlie Polk who had come to Hollister in 1937. In 1949, they purchased property in Tres Pinos where they resided until 1970 when they moved to Salinas. Elsie worked for Mission Linen for 12 years until her retirement in 1984.

She is survived by her son Keith and Betty Polk of Salinas, and a daughter, Charlotte Crowl of Scurry, TX, six grandchildren, Debbie Van Schuyver, Melody Foster, Steve Polk, and Gary Kirkpatrick, all of Salinas, Annette Donaldson of Scurry, TX, and Shannon Kirkpatrick of Nevada, fifteen great- grandchildren, and a sister, Cleta Martin of Salinas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charlie in 2005, her parents, three brothers, and one sister.

A Celebration of her life will be held at Northside Assembly of God Church, 55 Natividad Rd., Salinas, on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 10:00 A.M. Inurnment will be held in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hollister, CA
