Former Hollister resident Elsie Marie “Ruby” Tiller died Friday, May 30 in Fresno. She was 81.

Mrs. Tiller was born in the Parlier-Reedley area of Fresno County and later lived in Sanger and then Madera. After graduating from Madera High School, she lived for many years in Santa Cruz before returning to the Fresno and Madera areas, where she was a teacher’s aide for the Fresno Unified School District. She lived in Hollister from 1984 to 1994.

She is survived by her children, Candice Coterill of Hollister, Elizabeth Avedesian of Fresno, Patrick Tiller of Sandy, Ore. and Michael Tiller of Portland, Ore.; her sister, Jessie Morse of Madera; seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild, a niece and many nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Nelson “Terry” Tiller, who was reported missing in action in the Koran War in 1952.

Services are pending through Jay Chapel in Madera. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or “Mended Hearts,” 1495 W. Shaw Ave., Fresno, CA 93711.
