Elvia Barajas Canela passed away in Carson City, NV on April 19th, 2010, at the age of 59 years.

Elvia was a native of Mexico and had come to San Benito County 35 years ago. She had been an employee of Fairview Packing Company and San Benito Foods. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Guadalupana Society of Sacred Heart Parish. Her enjoyment was gardening and growing her flowers,and most of all going to the Casinos. “Her family said she was always smiling when she was winning, but her facial expression changed if she lost.”

Elvia was the daughter of the late Jose Maria Barajas and Guadalupe Barajas. She is survived by her husband Prospero Canela; her children Sergio, Jaime, Maria, Martin, Mario, Ricardo, Sandra, Norma, and Samuel Canela; 23 grandchildren and two great- granchildren; her sisters Margarita, Teresa, Bretha, Guadalupe, Agustina and Olivia Barajas; brothers Santiago Barajas and Roberto and Raul Lopez; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday April 27th from 1:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. with the Rosary being offered at 7:00 P.M. at the Grunnagle Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will leave the mortuary Wednesday morning at 9:30 A.M. to proceed to Sacrd Heart Church for a Mass of The

Resurrection beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
