Mrs. Gomez passed on Thursday, June 27th, after a lengthy illness. Although she was born in Arizona, she lived in Gilroy for over 50 years.

She leaves behind her loving husband of over 65 years, Godufredo Gomez.

She retired from Joseph Gubser Garlic Company and had previously worked as a farm worker throughout Gilroy and surrounding areas.

Ema leaves behind her siblings Felipe, Ricardo,Tanila, and Nestora.

She also leaves her loving sisters-in-law Isabel Gomez Olmos, Teresa Gomez Munoz, Maria de los Angeles Gomez, and brother in law Santiago Gomez. Although Ema was not blessed with children, she bestowed endless love upon her nephews, nieces and Godchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Silverio Corona, Petra Jaurequi and sister Ventura.

She was aunt to the Olmos, Duran, Jaurequi, Munoz, and Gonzalez families of Gilroy.

Ema was an expert at cross stitching and many other Mexican folk handicrafts. She shared her art with family and friends, so that the next generations of her family will be able to continue to learn about their cultural heritage.

Ema was also skilled at cooking! When family came to visit they knew they could always count on her delicious chicken mole, homemade tortillas and traditional rice and beans. She gave her heart to her family when they came to visit. She will be missed.

A remembrance of her life has been held on July 1st at 7:00 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home and Funeral Mass at St. Mary Church the following day, July 2nd at 11:00 A.M. with burial following at St. Mary Cemetery.
