Eugene Demele, 87, a 56 year resident of Gilroy, passed away on August 5th, 2009, in Riverside, CA after a brief illness. He was a proud Navy veteran of WWII and a retired electrician. Until relocating to Southern California in 2004, he was an active member of the VFW and American Legion. He was also active with Gilroy’s Senior Citizen Center and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lucille Demele and his children, Fred Demele of Gardnerville, NV and Alice Reed of Pinon Hills, CA. He is also survived by grandchildren Paul Demele of San Marcos, CA, Janis Colter of Fallbrook, CA, Stephanie Monroe of Grand Junction, CO and Gena Baker of Parachute, CO and great-grandchildren Sharina, Justin, Nicholas, Haileigh and Allison.
