Evelyn D. Furtado passed away Tuesday evening at the age of 83 at the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. Born in San Jose, California coming to Hollister in 1950. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and the S.D.E.S. both of Hollister. Formerly had been a warehouse manager for several years with Casa De Fruta fruit packing. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Manuel Furtado who died in 2001. Mother of David M. Furtado, wife, Tina, of Lakeview, Oregon and Kathleen Mozzone, husband, Tom, of Gilroy. Grandmother of Beth Sanborn, James and Matthew Furtado, Thomas Mozzone, Jr. and Tami Mozzone. Also survived by a great granddaughter, Miranda Ackerman.

Friends may visit at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home Sunday, from Noon to 8 P.M. A recitation of the Rosary will be offered at 7 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Monday morning at 9:30 A.M. and proceed to St. Benedict Catholic Church for a Funeral Mass commencing at 10 A.M. Entombment and graveside services will follow at the mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery. Contributions are preferred to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research in care of the funeral home.
