The civil trial of former San Benito County Supervisor Richard Scagliotti will continue at 9 a.m. today at San Benito County Superior Court.

Attorney Mike Pekin wrote in an e-mail that several witnesses, including Hollister Planning Commissioner Armando Attencio, will testify before the judge at today’s hearing.

Scagliotti was accused in 2003 by the anonymous group “Los Valientes” of using his influence as the county supervisor to fix development contracts to his advantage so he could gain financially as a private developer.

The case has grown more complex over the five years since its inception and now includes several other suits stemming from the allegations and countersuits from the defendants.

At a previous hearing in this case, Bob Cruz, another former county supervisor, came under fire when local developer Richard Ferreira testified that Cruz asked for a bribe of $170,000 in exchange for his support on an annexation request by a development firm. Cruz has denied the allegation.

Scagliotti’s attorney Michael Serverian was not available for comment before press time.
