The Friday Night Live Chapter at San Benito High School is inviting students to take the “Casey’s Pledge,” a promise students make to be sober and not drink and drive before prom on May 17.

Students will sign a pledge card in the shape of a star and will receive a wristband to wear during prom and other future events. The signed stars will be on display at the high school during the week before and after prom.

“Casey’s Pledge” is to remember Casey Goodwin, who was a popular advocate for healthy lifestyles free of alcohol and other drugs. Goodwin was killed in an automobile collision by an underage drunken driver in 2003.

Casey’s friends created the pledge as a way to honor her commitment to the cause of reducing alcohol related dangers.
