The father of communism Karl Marx believed that the true path to communism had to pass through capitalism first, followed by socialism.
In his view, this was the only way that the people could experience all the wrongs that capitalism leads to.
Russians will tell anyone on the road to communism to turn back and hit the gas as you pass socialism. Unfortunately, our current supervisors (minus one) have set us on the path to socialism, some smiling from the riches they gained from capitalism.
Here is how it works. First, take away “property rights” (capitalism) then move to eliminate “voting rights” (democracy) so that your opponents cannot remove you from “power” (dictatorship/communism).
It really isn’t very difficult to sell the idea. All you have to do is ally yourself (make a deal) with the press to spread your propaganda and say it is for the benefit of all the people.
It seems like the farmers are the first to go in our new regime, but if you think about it, was it really fair for them to have so much land in the first place? I mean, why should they be able to pass down their land from generation to generation?
Our comrades say it was because they would have developed their land and created sprawl. If that’s true, why didn’t they sell their land a few years ago when the capitalist market was at its peak?
No matter, an initiative was passed to take away the rights that the farmers have to their land. I must confess the plan was brilliant. Write an initiative that’s titled, “Save Our Farmland,” keep it secret from the farmers, because 99 percent of those capitalists wouldn’t agree with it anyway, and then tell the public it’s what the farmers want. Brilliant!
I really don’t think those locals that were involved in the petition-drive really meant to hurt our brothers and sisters the farmers. But I do think those slick socialists from “out of town” that paid people from “out of town” to collect the signatures did a great job misleading them.
What really confuses me is why are our comrades are “blaming” the farmers for all of the sprawl that has occurred over the past decade? As I understand it, there is a growth-cap in place that doesn’t allow for more than 50 or 60 homes to be built in the county per year. That doesn’t seem like much sprawl to me! So, why pick on the farmers?
I wonder how much it would cost to pick up some of that prime farmland after our comrades go bankrupt? Oops, there I go thinking like a capitalist again.
I keep reading that the City of Hollister is to blame for all of the sprawl, but one farmer told me that all those tracts of homes and the ones built on our sacred hillsides were actually approved by the county supervisors. Why would the supervisors do such a thing?
I don’t know, after all who am I to question the wisdom of our “Great Leaders?” These comrades are so wise that they do not need to listen to the foolish thoughts of the people.
One thing does bother me, though. When I was talking to the farmer, he told me this crazy story about how one of the supervisors was involved in many of the housing developments. He said this supervisor is one of the largest developers in the county and his land will be exempted from this new initiative to stop sprawl. Maybe if I play nice to this almighty supervisor and his cronies (I mean comrades) they might let me partner with them to buy some cheap farmland.
There I go again, thinking like a capitalist. I guess I’ll never make a good communist.
Come to think of it, I like democracy and capitalism better; you don’t have to lie so much!
