Linebacker Jonathan Huaracha celebrates with the crowd after the Balers defeated Palma for the TCAL title Friday.

San Benito High will compete in the Central Coast Section Open Division playoffs for the first time in school history, the school learned Sunday.
The Balers, who finished the season 6-0 in the Tri-County Athletic League and 7-2-1 overall, will host Archbishop Mitty at 7 p.m. Friday at Andy Hardin Field.
Mitty finished its season going 6-3-1 to finish third in the West Catholic Football League. The Monarchs were one of five teams – the others were Oak Grove, Bellarmine, Palo Alto and St. Francis – to choose to move up into the Open Division bracket.
San Benito was moved into the Open Division after compiling enough points -through wins – throughout the season. Because of the Balers TCAL championship, San Benito was awarded the No. 3 seed behind Oak Grove and Bellarmine.
San Benito last loss of the season – dating back to the second game of the season – was to Oak Grove. The only other San Benito loss came to No. 4 seed Palo Alto in the season’s first game.
CCS created the Open Division in 2004, but this is the first year San Benito will compete in it.
San Benito is looking for its first CCS title since 2005, which was won in the Division I bracket of the CCS playoffs.
Look back for reaction.
Here is the complete bracket:
No. 6 Mitty at No. 3 San Benito, Friday at 7 p.m.
No. 7 Terra Nova at No. 2 Bellarmine, Friday at 7 p.m.
No. 5 Leland at No. 4 Palo Alto, Friday at 7 p.m.
No. 8 St. Francis at No. 1 Oak Grove, Friday at 7 p.m.
