In the first year of the Monterey Bay equity league, the San Benito football team will meet two new league opponents in Christopher and Monterey.
The Balers’ 10-game schedule was released earlier this week and includes a tough non-league lineup. The Balers play two games against Blossom Valley Athletic League Mount Hamilton Division opponents – Pioneer and Willow Glen – and Central Coast Section Division I runner-up Palo Alto. San Benito plays Los Altos, which finished 1-9 last year, to close the non-league slate.

In the second week of the league season – on Oct. 12 – San Benito will travel to Monterey High to face the Toreadors for the first time.

The Balers travel to Gilroy High on Oct. 19 to continue the Prune Bowl rivalry game. Last year, San Benito won it’s second-consecutive Prune Bowl over the Mustangs, winning 39-3.

San Benito will also host Gilroy-based Christopher on Oct. 26, which will be the school’s homecoming.

The season closes against Palma on Nov. 9.

In the final season of the TCAL, San Benito went 6-0 and won the league championship for the first time since 2005. In the MBL last year, Christopher and Monterey shared the title with 5-1 league records.
