A 23-year-old resident was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of 36 felony counts of burglary and six more of embezzlement at the local Target store, where he had been an employee.

Lance Hoffman, of Hollister, was arraigned in court Thursday on multiple charges and his next hearing at the San Benito County Courthouse is set for Dec. 18.

An intake document at the San Benito County Jail lists off 36 recommended counts of burglary and six of embezzlement. But Hollister police spokeswoman Rosie Betanio found just one report on Hoffman listing a single count of embezzlement.

Assistant District Attorney Patrick Palacios, meanwhile, confirmed that Hoffman was arraigned on “multiple counts” but said that he did not have the types or number of charges accessible before publication.

A manager at Target named Al, who declined to provide his last name, confirmed that Hoffman was an employee there.
