A former martial arts instructor accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to 13 years in prison for raping a 14-year-old girl in 2013.
Timothy Gutierrez recently accepted a plea deal while admitting to a count of forcible rape on a 14-year-old, lewd and lascivious acts and false imprisonment by violence, according to a statement from the Hollister Police Department.
Hollister police in April 2013 arrested the then 51-year-old man – at the time a martial arts instructor at Technique Studio on Sixth Street in Hollister – on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female juvenile.
According to a police report, officers arrested him at the martial arts studio at 211 Sixth St.
On Thursday, a judge sentenced Gutierrez to 13 years in state prison. After his sentence, Gutierrez must register as a sex offender.
