Francis Emery Bryant passed away at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital on Sunday May 29th at the age of 90.
Bryant was a native of Alton in Humboldt County, Calif., who moved to San Juan Bautista four years ago to be with his daughter.
He was a electrician who received his training through his military career. He spent 35 years in the Coast Guard, retiring in April 1972. He had also served with the C.C.’s at Pt Reyes, Calif., Honolulu, Hawaii and Yerba Buena Island, Calif. His specialty as an electrician was converting lighthouses to automatic equipment.
He and his late wife Leona G. Bryant, who also passed away this month on May 2nd, loved to travel anywhere they could including trips to Mexico, Peru, South America, England, Scotland and Wales. Domestically they traveled in the trailer. Their last big trip was to Yellowstone National park in 1995.
Bryant’s memberships included the Star King Lodge, F.&A.M. of Layfayette, Calif., the SIRS in Georgetown, Calif. and the American Legion Post of San Francisco.
Bryant enjoyed the out-doors, hunting and fishing especially in his younger years with his brother in Northern Calif., said his daughters.
Besides his late wife Leona, Bryant is survived by his daughters Susan L. Bryant of San Juan Bautista and Barbara Blume (Husband Robert) of Arnold, Calif., his brother and sister-in-law Meredith and Irene Bryant of Ferndale, Calif. and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been made for private cremation and inurnment through Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home, located at 870 San Benito St., Hollister, CA 95023.
