I am somewhat amazed to see the alleged Supervisor supporters of
Measure G, Ms. Loe and Mr. Scagliotti, enthusiastically welcome Cal
Trans’ unfortunate plan to add another four lanes through San Juan
Bautista on 156. So how does freeway building stop sprawl, the goal
of Measure G?

They must know that freeways connect commuters to distant jobs and residences, which is what sprawl is all about, as the authors of Sprawl Nation so clearly prove. Ms. Loe and Mr. Scagliotti apparently cannot connect the dots: Hollister, San Juan Oaks housing development, San Juan Bautista, Rancho Larios, Rancho San Antonio, Merrill Road, “greater Aromas” – these are the dots that 156 connects. And this is about as clear an example of sprawl as anyone needs. Looks like we’ll have to go some more meetings to help them see the errors of their ways.
